I have never used this kind of sharpener prior to this point and must say that it is a rather refreshing take on the practice. It comes with all the tools needed to ensure the sharpest of blades are had. Even with instructions however, there is a bit of a learning curve in order to correctly maintain your metal. The rolling action itself felt familiar although not something I can admit to having mastered as of yet. The block you hold your knife against is magnetic and that helps when trying to find the correct angle and position to sharpen both sides.

I am obsessive about ensuring my wife's knives are sharp, and steel them with each use. Honing is a bit trickier and more work, but this system takes away the guess work and makes it much easier - now she and the kids can hone the knives . It's a quality product, well-built and works. Would give it 5 stars BUT a strange miss - the sides of the wheel are not marked for Fine and Extra Fine or 360 grit and 600 grit. So you have to feel for it or guess. You can kinda feel for it. Kinda. Hence -one star.
